Production

papierrolVincent Sheppard furniture is still manufactured in the traditional way, using a unique process that dates back to early last century. Kraft paper is twisted round a metal wire, forming paper threads that are woven into mats. This wickerwork is then attached to a frame, creating the legendary sitting comfort of Lloyd Loom. And the smooth, non-catch finish to the fabric keeps your skin or clothing from being damaged.

The Design, Quality Control, Marketing and General Management departments are the nerve centre of the Vincent Sheppard NV furniture group and work closely together at the company’s Belgian headquarters, which is also where the finishing touches are put to all items of furniture and accessories.

draad bobijnActual production is divided between two factories, one in Indonesia, the other in Hungary. The furniture with rattan and aluminium frames is manufactured in Indonesia by a workforce of three hundred highly-qualified craftsmen. The staff of one hundred and twenty at the Hungarian factory produce furniture with beech frames.

Vincent Sheppard’s Outdoor Collection now enables you to enjoy traditional Lloyd Loom seating comfort on your terrace, on the balcony or round the pool. The furniture’s hand-welded aluminium frames make these chairs particularly sturdy and ultra-lightweight, which also means they are extremely easy to handle. The chairs are dipped in a bath of latex to give them a protective layer that is resistant to moisture and damp. This protective layer is then baked on in a kiln.

loomingFinally, the chairs are given a finishing coat of moisture-resistant lacquer in the colour of the customer’s choice. The open weave design means that Lloyd Loom chairs do not heat up and retain heat when left in the sun. To enable you to enjoy your Lloyd Loom furniture for even longer, we recommend that you bring the chairs indoors during the cold, damp winter months.

Lloyd Loom furniture requires virtually no special care. Its thick protective layer makes it resistant to scratches, so all you have to do is give the furniture a wipe with a damp cloth.
